One day Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee. He saw two brothers and he gave them an invitation. He said, "Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men." This invitation had two parts; being in a relationship with Jesus and fishing for people. Here at Brookdale, we are imperfect people following Jesus seeking to be disciples who make disciples. We are redeemed by the blood of Jesus.
This faith family seeks to share the good news of Jesus, to grow in faith, fellowship together, serve people, and worship the living God.
Jesus also invites you. Come, let us follow Him together.
Jonathan came on staff as our pastor in July of 2019. He is excited to follow God's leading as He moves in our community to draw people to Himself.
Jonathan is passionate about seeing people the way Jesus sees people and building relationships with them.
He graduated, May 2020, from Gardner-Webb University's Divinity School with his Masters of Divinity in Inter-cultural Studies.
Kim became the director of music ministries at Brookdale Baptist Church in 2018. Her heart is to serve Jesus to the best of her ability and bring glory to God through the music and worship at Brookdale.
Kim is also an elementary school administrator.
In 1939, children were playing in a yard in the South Ridge community. A neighbor spent time with them and told them stories from the Bible. This small group of energetic kids and an adult who loved them and loved Jesus was the seedbed for what would be Brookdale. The stories spread from kids to adults and there became interest for an adult Bible study. A Sunday school was organized where people met in various homes within this community. As the group grew, they prayed and felt let by God to form a church. On November 19, 1939, the small group was organized into Brookdale Baptist Church.
This was an organic beginning where God used relationships, connection, love, His word, and His power to bring together people who wanted to follow God together. In the same way, after 80 years, we still want to build relationships and connect with people where the love of God is evident and the Truth of God is shared. We want to be followers of Jesus who call others to also follow Jesus.
